I thought it was to be shown during the Le Mans weeks and then participate in the followign WEC races?

I don't see the point of racing in the other races, if you don't make it to Le Mans.

Well they have contracts with drivers and some sponsors - they need to race when they are ready, and as the homologation wasn't done in time, joining for the rest of the season seems to be the best option.
